The most significant story of a woman born under the Revathi Nakshatra is that of Revathi, wife of Balarama. She was the granddaughter of Raivat Manu and daughter of Kakudmi. Raivat took her to Brahma to find a suitable groom for her, but they were so mesmerised by the songs of the Gandharvas that they spent four ages there. When Raivat realised the passing of time and feared for his granddaughter, Brahma assured him that Balarama of Dwarakpuri would marry Revathi.

Balarama agreed to marry her, but Revathi was taller and larger than humans of that period since she was from a different time. Balarama pressed his plough on her shoulder, whereupon she shrunk to a normal sized woman. Their marriage was celebrated with much pomp and splendour.
